What changed in 2025 that you need to know

Google's March 2025 Core Update and the rollout of AI Overviews to India fundamentally shifted what ranks. Thin, generic posts vanished. Posts with first-hand experience, original data, and clear author identity surged.

The 7-step framework that works in 2026

    1. Pick a keyword with a real human behind it

Use Google Search Console and tools like Ahrefs or Semrush. Target 100–2000 monthly volume with KD under 35 for new sites.

    2. Match search intent precisely

Open the top 5 results. Are they listicles? How-tos? Comparisons? Match the format, don't fight it.

    3. Write a hook that earns the next sentence

First 2 lines decide bounce rate. Lead with the answer or a surprising stat.

    4. Demonstrate EEAT in every section

Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust. Add author bio, link to LinkedIn, include screenshots from real work. See Google's EEAT guidelines.

    5. Structure for AI Overviews

Use clear H2/H3 hierarchy. Answer the main question in the first 100 words. Add a TL;DR. AI Overviews pull from posts structured this way.

    6. Internal + external links

Link to 2–3 authoritative external sources and 3–5 internal pages. For example, link to your services hub and related posts like the local SEO checklist.

    7. Add original media

Custom diagrams, screenshots, or data. Stock-only posts rarely rank in 2026.

    The publishing cadence that compounds

2 well-researched posts per week beats 10 thin posts. Pick a niche, own it, and update old posts every 6 months.

How long until you see results?

Realistic timeline for a new site: 4–8 months to start ranking, 12–18 months to dominate. There's no shortcut Google hasn't already devalued.
