Local SEO is no longer optional, it is the new shopfront
More than 46% of all Google searches have local intent, and on mobile the figure is even higher. When someone searches 'best dentist near me', 'cafe in [your city]' or 'plumber open now', Google does not show ten blue links, it shows a map, three Google Business Profiles, then a few organic results almost no one scrolls to. If your business is not in those top three map results, your phone simply does not ring. That is what 'local SEO' actually controls.
Winning the Map Pack is not just about claiming your Google Business Profile. It depends on a tight match between your GBP, the citations and directory listings that mention your business across the web, the reviews you accumulate (and how recently), the relevance signals on your website, the proximity of the searcher to your address, and dozens of smaller behavioural signals Google watches in the background. A serious local SEO programme runs all of them in parallel.
Uddhavo has run local SEO for single-location restaurants, multi-clinic healthcare groups, regional retail chains, education institutes with multiple campuses and home-service businesses with floating teams across a city. The playbook flexes with structure; the discipline does not.
